Our Vision and Virtues

Our aim at Trythall Community Primary School is to provide an education of the highest quality underpinned by the ethos of Ubuntu and our Golden Virtues, based on vital moral values, to children of all backgrounds and abilities. We offer an education which aims to meet the needs of pupils both academically and in terms of spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.

We enable our pupils to realise that they can be: "more human". This is what makes our school a unique place of learning, for every child in our care.

In practice, Ubuntu means believing the common bonds within our school are more important than any individual divisions within it.  It is about coming together and building a consensus around what affects our community. For this reason, we are all members of our school council.

Golden Virtues

As a community, we have agreed that the virtues we strive to show in our day to day interactions at school and in the wider world encourage moral values that enable us to be responsible members of our community.

We have looked at well known personalities that have demonstrated these virtues in their roles and daily life.

Creativity - Einstein - “Creativity is seeing what others see and thinking what no one else ever thought.”

Honesty - Gandhi - “It is difficult, but not impossible to conduct strictly honest business.”

Resilience - J K Rowling - “We do not need magic to transform our world. We carry all the power we need in ourselves already.”

Determination - Michael Jordan- “I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying.”

Courage - Rosa Parks - “Without a vision the people perish, but without courage dreams die.”

Kindness - Kid President- “Be somebody who makes everybody feel like somebody.”

Tolerance - Martin Luther King - “I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”

Curiosity - Malala Yousafzai- “One child, one teacher, one book, one pen, can change the world.”

Independence - Greta Thunberg - “You are never too small to make a difference.”

Ubuntu - Nelson Mandela - “I am because we are.”

Helen Keller - teamwork- “Alone we can do so little - together we can do so much.”

Gratitude - Mother Teresa - “Be thankful for the small things it is in them that your strength lies.”

Responsibility - Winston Churchill - “With opportunity comes responsibility.”
